  3. When I heard the amount of food that throw away I was shocked, at the same time it made me think of all the people who struggle every day for a plate of food at their table and many times we bought some extra food and then we end up throwing away it. I think this has to serve as a wake-up call to do something about it.

  4. Well, I think that we have to become aware of the food we sometimes to throw away or it's wasted, because around the world there are a lot of people who haven't got food everyday, and it's terrible. In fact, we never know if someday we will need it.

I got really surprised when I saw the percents of wasted food! Well, I don't have much to say about the other countries because I just want to come to our country, to our city. In fact, I don't really know if that percent is not approximating to ours. What we usually do is if we have food for example, to make boiling potatoes maybe accompanied by sausages or meat in any way, we cook it but what we couldn't finish eating we just put in to the fridge to eat it the next day. But the next day, we realise we have more potatoes and we decide making chips, for instance. But what happens with the food we have in the fridge that is our food leftovers? Perhaps if we have pets we give it to them but usually it pass 2 days or more inside the fridge and when we think it has a long time inside there we throw it because it can be in a 'bad condition'. Even I usually have food leftovers but because I don't like it, I go and buy another thing to eat. That's what I usually see people make with food leftovers but there're even more bad habits that we have on the act of eating and wasting food! It's really important to take care of them! We need to control it! And I need it, too!

  6. Well, I think that there are a lot of people that throw away a large amount of food and they don't think about the people who don't have to buy. Also, I believe that it's such a good idea to give all this wasted food to the dogs living in the streets

I think that is so sad heard the huge porcent of wasted food. The problem is that sometimes we buy so much food and we don't consume at short time, letting pass some days. For example bananas, becouse of the texture or color of the shell, we tend to throw away and maybe is good enough to eat. As says in the audio, we pay too much attention to the appearance. We can make a change, we could give that food to children in the street. Maybe they wanted so much that piece of food we thrown away uncounsciously.

Well.. I think the majority of us tend to throw food as something nutural without worrying it and without thinking how good will be if we give that food to someone who can not afford it . There are people who are dying of starving every day, and its so sad knowing we can save someones life if all of us help with something good. Throwing food also its a problem for our planet,
and a serious one . So yes, we are the problem but the solution too. So lets make a change.. Lets save our own place of living and save us.

  10. Well,I agree with most of the opinions of my classmates. Throwing food in the trash, while there are people or animals that need it is bad. At home, the animals are fed with the leftover, or simply we cook the amount we want to eat.
Maybe we see that the food has a bad appearance and we do not want to eat it, but it is not necessary to throw it away!
    Thanks...

  11. I think that is too much food waste but also, in our country people throw 1 kg of food for each inhabitant every day. As in my house we give the rest of the food to our pets we don't waste a large amount of food. However, there are supermarkets that throw away the food insted of give to people who really need it. We wouldn't throw away again the food if we were in the shoes of poor people who need it.

    1. When you say supermarkets could give food to the people who need it, I see what you mean but unfortunately, many companies (including supermarkets) are not going to give food away because of fear of legal actions against them in case someone gets food poisoned. So, as you can see, it is really complex.

  12. I love this bit from the article: 'she is a busy working mum and she tries to meal-plan – she plans the family's meals for the week and works out what to buy.' It reminds me of my own mum and family. Food has always been an important issue for us and honestly I don't remember us throwing food away. Mum always finds a way of 'recycling' or 'reusing' food to make other dishes.

  14. I believe that it's terrible the quantity of food that people throw away. I have been to Finland and I was completely shocked when I saw the huge amount of food that people throw away, what is more, they hardly ever 'reuse' it, so I was 'forced' to throw a lot of food in the rubbish bin. I remerber that it was a horrible moment to me because I felt so guilty due to there are a lot of people who don't have something to eat everyday.

  15. To be real nowadays aren't taking care of what they throw away every day, not only with food. I refer to the million of things are thrown every day; which increase the contamination on our planet. It's hard to aware people from this, it's a work that it has to be done by everyone, working on our day to day life trying to eat just the necessary and not producing so much rubish.

  16. Well, I think that we could improve this situación thinking about what we can do with the food leftovers. So we can ask some relatives like grandmothers for recipes or we can look on internet for something like that. We have a lot of alternatives for not thorw away food, we only have to be careful in the way we cook and in the amount we use to do this.

I agree with previous comments, I think it's relatively easy to make changes in our everyday life in order to stop wasting so much food. Nowadays we have so many resources and we should make the most of them. We could also teach children at school about this, so they're raised with better habits.
Still, it seems that supermarkets are the biggest problem when it comes to food waste. So perhaps they should be the ones to start looking for alternatives and truly make a significant change.

I agree with everything my classmates say, it is impressive the amount of food that is thrown and above all to think that there are people who don`t have to eat. It is also true that you can give it to pets, it would be a way to not go to waste.

Nowadays people buy a lot of food that they wouldn´t eat. It´s awful because there are a lot of peolple that they haven´t got anything to eat. Actually is something that you can see anywhere. I think that we don´t take this problem serously because in some way it doesn´t affect us. We have to think abuot that!

  20. hello! well, I agree with the opinion of my classmates. It would be good if we become aware of the large amount of food that is thrown as it is surprising the statistics of food waste, knowing the need of people in street situation.
since in many homes people do not know how to calculate the amount of food, and this is left over and then pulled. there are also many people who get used to not eating the food that is left over.
because of this it would be good to aware throughout the world.

It is very surprising and at the same time it is sad to know the amount of wasted food, because there are a lot of people whose basic needs are not satisfied.I think this is a cultural problem.
Everyone should be concious of this, teach and set an example. Also,at schools they should teach how to deal with leftovers or give to someone who needs it.

  22. It´s really shocking the amount of food that is thrown away every year, even though I think those numbers were not taken in Argentina, because, at least in our area, food it isn´t thrown that easily, but it´s still a sad percentage, even more taking into account that the interview it´s not updated.
Nevertheless, I agree with Emanuel, who said that changing this situation it's a work that it has to be done by everyone, growing as mas vegetables as we can at our gardens, and making the markets improve their services and sharing this ideas with our communities.
